Council tax
Whether you own your home or rent, all domestic properties are subject to council tax.
The amount of council tax you have to pay depends on which band your property falls into.
Not all the money Salford City Council receives comes from council tax payments, significant amounts of money come from government grants and a national pot of business rates.
Council tax raises money to help pay for the services that we provide to the residents of Salford which includes social care, education services including schools, regeneration, crime and community safety initiatives and environmental services such as waste collection.
Council tax also goes towards the costs of waste disposal, Greater Manchester transport, flood defences, the police and fire authorities.
